A video released by Project Veritas shows top campaign advisors stating that New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) will publicly favor vaccine mandates once he has secured reelection.
The video shows one of Murphy’s senior advisors, Wendy Martinez, stating that the Democratic governor is hiding his plan to impose vaccine mandates until after the election so that he will not alienate undecided and Independent voters.
“[R]ight now, it is about him winning,” Martinez says in the video.
The undercover Project Veritas reporter also caught Martinez making disparaging remarks regarding those who believe vaccines should be a matter of choice as only concerned with “my rights, my s***.”
“And they don’t care if they kill everybody,” added Martinez, a comment that was particularly offensive to Tom Szymanski, executive director of the New Jersey Republican Party.
“From the beginning of the pandemic, Phil Murphy has been following political science, as opposed to actual science,” Szymanski stated. “Purposefully hiding this life-changing information until after the election is as deceitful as it gets.”
Murphy reportedly said that New Jersey has “zero expectation” of requiring students to be vaccinated. That statement of policy is now in question.
Matthew Urquijo, a digital manager and campaign staffer for Murphy, was also interviewed by an undercover Project Veritas reporter. He agreed that Murphy will issue vaccine mandates after the election.
The video records Urquijo saying: “I think the problem is right now, because it’s election season, he is not going to have people say like, ‘We’re gonna have a mandate now, because, you know, for some people, that’s going to piss them off. I think once, you know, we have a win, he’s like, ‘Alright, guns blazing, like, who cares? I’m in it. Let’s do the mandates. Let’s do this, X, Y, and Z.'”
The Murphy campaign responded by criticizing Project Veritas’ undercover tactics and accusing them of causing undue distress.
Raj Parikh, an attorney for the Democratic State Committee, accused Project Veritas of intimidation and harassment.
Project Veritas responded by releasing two videos, further embarrassing the Murphy campaign.
The second video of Martinez released by Project Veritas indicates that the Governor is concealing his intent to channel state funds to undocumented immigrants because announcing that at this point would be “political suicide.” In the video, Martinez estimates that Governor Murphy has already allocated $40 million to undocumented immigrants.
