An illegal immigrant who was previously deported after unlawfully entering the U.S. has now been charged with s*xually assaulting a 14-year-old, per The Christian Post.
Jose Chan, a Guatemalan national, was arrested by Florida’s Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office last week and is being held at the Okaloosa County Jail to be taken into ICE custody.
According to a statement released by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, the incident involving the victim occurred at her residence on February 25, 2023.
The victim reached out to her family members regarding the abuse, resulting in her being taken to the HCA Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital where they confirmed that she had been s*xually assaulted.
“A medical examination of the victim showed a positive finding for s*xual abuse,” the statement read. “Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab results also found evidence of the girl’s DNA on Chan, via buccal swabs obtained from the defendant.”
The 24-year-old’s identity was confirmed by the FBI due to his last deportation by ICE on Feb. 9.
Chan’s arrest is just one of many plaguing the nation. The topic of border security and illegal immigration was a hot-button issue during last week’s debate, in which former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s laid-back approach.
“We have a border that’s the most dangerous place anywhere in the world, considered the most dangerous place anywhere in the world, and he opened it up, and these killers are coming into our country, and they are raping and killing women, and it’s a terrible thing,” said Trump.
In another incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Ecuador named Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi.
He was charged with predatory s*xual assault, first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree robbery, second-degree rape, first-degree s*xual abuse, obstructing governmental administration, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly admitted to assaulting the girl to police.
Last week, officers arrested 37-year-old Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta in the murder of two Chick-fil-A employees inside the Irving, Texas restaurant. He was placed on an immigration detainer by ICE.
If the crime wave committed by illegal immigrants wasn’t enough to put Americans on edge, Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) recently warned that Tren de Aragua, a deadly Venezuelan gang is gaining power around the country and is taking advantage of the crisis at the border.
“This gang in several years is going to be the dominant transnational criminal organization throughout the United States. There’s no doubt in my mind,” Gonzales said in an interview with Fox News back in April.
“They’re very vicious. They have no rules. They gobble up territory almost like a cancer.” Since 2021, there have been a reported 10 million illegal immigrants to have crossed over the border and over 1.7 million reported as “got-aways.”
