The White House is now in damage control mode after reports revealed Biden’s personal physician met with a top neurologist and Parkinson’s specialist at the White House.
Biden’s personal doctor Kevin O’Connor broke protocol on Monday by releasing a letter to explain why Dr. Kevin Cannard had visited the White House eight times in eight months, per Daily Mail.
This letter followed a day of intense speculation about Biden’s health, which has been under scrutiny since his first debate with Trump.
O’Connor’s letter read, “Dr. Cannard was the neurological specialist that examined President Biden for each of his annual physicals.”
“President Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical,” it added, as outlined by The New York Post.
The outlet further noted that Cannard is a movement disorder specialist who works at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland.
He also served as the neurology consultant to the White House medical unit since 2012.
Cannard traveled from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to the White House residence clinic for early morning visits eight times between July 2023 and March 2024, per the Post.
O’Connor emphasized in his letter that although Cannard specializes in treating patients with movement disorders like Parkinson’s, he has also practiced as a general neurologist for six years.
O’Connor reiterated that Biden’s last physical in February showed no signs of Parkinson’s or other neurological disorders.
The letter followed a heated exchange between Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre (KJP) and reporters, where the White House spokesperson refused to explain Cannard’s visits, citing “security concerns.”
KJP added to the speculation by stating that the president had seen a neurologist three times.
O’Conner’s letter reportedly came just hours after KJP declined to explain the recent flurry of visits from Parkinson’s specialist Cannard.
The logs show that Cannard met with Megan Nasworthy, who coordinates primary care visits for the president and his family, seven times at the White House.
Cannard met with O’Connor and Dr. John Atwood, a cardiologist at Walter Reed, during another visit.
O’Connor clarified that Cannard frequently visits the White House medical unit to meet with military members and hosts regular neurology clinics there for active-duty servicemen.
“Prior to the pandemic, and following its end, he has held regular Neurology Clinics at the White House Medical Clinic in support of the thousands of active-duty members assigned in support of White House operations,” he penned.
“Many military personnel experience neurological issues related to their service, and Dr. Cannard regularly visits the WHMU as part of this General Neurology practice.”
Resist the Mainstream previously reported on House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer revealing O’Connor has been involved in the Biden family’s business dealings.
Earlier this week he demanded that O’Connor appears before Congress to answer questions on Biden’s “declining mental state.”
“Dr. O’Connor’s medical assessments have been potentially influenced by his business pursuits with the Biden family,” Comer claimed on X.
Comer added in a press release on Sunday: “Chairman Comer also is requesting Dr. O’Connor produce all documents and communications in his possession related to his involvement in the Biden family’s financial activity.”
The letter Comer wrote to O’Connor can be read here.
